Tuberculosis

Tuberculosis (TB) is a highly contagious, potentially fatal disease which majorly affects lungs and ultimately leads them to dysfunction.

Symptoms

Commonly observed symptoms of TB include extensive cough for a period of 3 or more weeks, coughing with blood, weight loss, loss of appetite, fatigue, chest pain, fever and night sweats.

Prevention

Patients with latent TB infection are advised to take prescribed medication to prevent any risk of developing active TB.

Patients with active TB are advised to stay at home, cover their mouth when sneezing or coughing (better wear a mask), making sure their room is well ventilated in order to minimize the risk for others to contract the disease.
